I have my valve cover gasket kit, cleaning supplies to make it pretty, but do you recommend any particular product to out around the gasket? I watched a YouTube video, and they places a product along the edges but I cannot hear which product he used.
On my camper van I did not use ANYTHING at all, but I figured I would ask you lovely people.

The stuff the youtuber probably used is silicon gasket maker. Its typically only used in corners to help seal.
Do you think it is worth it to use it?
Hey there! I did a replacement on a valve cover gasket a few months ago when I first purchased the car. All I did was take a rag and make sure around the cover where the gasket would be placed (and around the plug holes on the cover) were clean and dry before installing the new gasket. Also clean the top of the engine so that the gasket had good contact to the metal and the cover for a good seal. Nothing else special about it! Picked up the gasket at Napa.
