      Swap to 1.4L Turbo Ecotec details . . .

Hello, I am new to the forums and have been the proud(?) owner of a 2007 Pontiac Wave since it was new.

The other day I was poking around the dealer whilst my wave was on the hoist, and I was excited to learn about the 1.4L turbo ecotec engine that is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox both in the Chevy Cruze and the soon to be available Chevy Sonic (new Aveo/Wave).

Well the last few days I've been telling myself that the new Sonic is mine as soon as it's here, I just have to decide between the sedan or hatchback... but now I think: What are the chances that this great engine drops into my Wave? I *think* its the same engine bay but I am not an expert at all in these sorts of things.

Thanks for reading so far and I guess the main question/topic of this thread is to discuss the details of swapping to the 1.4L turbo engine/6-speed gearbox that comes in the next gen? How close to plug 'n play will it be?

it will be close. might not be exactly plug and play, but it will be able to go in. Any idea where your sonic and cruze are coming from? do you get the american built or the korean?

Not sure where we import them from... fingers crossed for an American Chev.... it just seems right.

Well, seems like the best option would be to drive mine until the timing belt goes and blows my engine up. Then tow it over to GM and "upgrade" to the 1.4L turbo 6-speed.

And i just realized you in nova scotia, which for some reason clicked in my brain to greenland which would have given you availability to buy vauxhall stuff...
