So whats up with the battery fuse?
So whats the deal with the fuse under the red terminal cover? What's it needed for? I swear take off the terminal cover someone and tell me why it isn't a simple hookup straight to the battery post!

Re: So whats up with the battery fuse?
Pretty much the same reason we have fuses for everything else? Protect the wiring and components behind them. Oh, and to help prevent electrical fires and whatnot, maybe thats why it's not a straight hook-up. I mean i'd rather buy the 100 amp fuse should it ever need to be replaced (hopefully it shouldn't though) instead of having a fire like that other guy on this forum with the Ford Taurus.
Re: So whats up with the battery fuse?
probably in case the positive lead were to get shorted. My jetta has a giant sticker on the driverside strut tower "POSITIVE TERMINAL NEEDS TO BE SHIELDED, IF IT SHORTS ON TOWER, MIGHT BLOW TIRE!" and all sorts of nasty stuff.
Re: So whats up with the battery fuse?
