      Seeping valve cover gasket

Valve cover gasket was changed by chevy here about 7000 miles ago by previous owner. Already seeping a little. I'm going to change it myself to make sure it's done properly this time. Here in Uruguay the mechanics rarely use torque wrenches and follow specific torque sequences.

I assume they just overtightened it or didn't clean the surfaces properly. Very common here.

Now what would be a good brand? Chevy sell cheap replacement gaskets here but I'm skeptical about their quality.

Heard good reviews about Fel Pro in usa. Are they worth the 40 odd bucks or should I just go with a cheap replacement from chevy here? Should I add a little gasket sealant with the gasket for extra security?

      Thanks in advance

As this is a common issues on the aveo I'm suprised nobody answered.

      Bought a local gasket.

Hopefully get this done within a month (moving house in a week or so).

I'm planning to add gasket sealant along with the provided gasket as it seems to leak with the standard gasket anyway.
Had this issue on a V6 jag and the sealant cured it.

It's seeping quite a bit and made a bit of a mess down the front of the block. Will need lots of decent degreaser to clean it up.

Common issue definitely use felpro. Engine heat will build up eventually around the valve cover gasket,so a quality gasket is a must I also used a small 1/16 in bead of rtv between the valve cover and gasket for extra protection. Definitely follow torque specs and bolt pattern procedure.

I never use RTV on a solid gasket, except where recommended at machined transition points, and they never leak. And I'm also not aware of any gasket maker specifying adding RTV to their solid gaskets. But as always, your vehicle, your choice.
