Ruthenium Spark Plugs?
I have a 2007 Pontiac Wave (canadian Aveo) with 104,000km.
It was kept in good condition as far as I can tell, i am getting the timing belt changed since the last owner says its still on the original belt.
I also bought new plugs and boots. The thing is I have heard these cars have a problem with platinum plugs from the original owner. Rock auto said these plugs were compatible with my car: Ruthenium HX FR6BHX-S 95159.
I bought them as they were the most expensive and I didnt really know what I was doing. They also say the default gap is 0.032. Rather than 0.044.
I also heard there was a sparkplug recall on the 2009+ models and the default gap was reduced.
Can I run these plugs? Should I keep the gap default or 0.044?

It’s a loaded question. It’s like asking what brand of oil to use :D That said, I prefer regular copper plugs as I’ve had misfire-issues with the high end expensive plugs.

Well for anyone else who comes looking, I slapped the ruthenium plugs in and she seems normal. Didnt gap them as I had no feeler gauges, so 0.032 gap instead of 0.044.

Very nice, the only reason the ngk iridium ones were used is because of this forum, for the price why not change them every year or two. Keep 'em top notch.
