I would like to know the size socket needed to open the filter housing on a 2009 Aveo5. Yes it is a very different system than the first gen. I have read that it's a 15\16, 24mm, 28mm and 32mm.
They cannot all be right. I'm going to guess that it is a metric socket, but I hope someone actually "knows" the size. Like most guys I do love buying new tools. But I would like to buy the correct size tool.

my guess is 24... but i can not remember, I have all those sizes, so I can't say 100%
Unfortunately I have not needed a socket that large. Maybe I can find a nice store that will let me take several sockets out to the car to see which one fits.
I can Confirm that the filter cover is a 15/16 "Bolt", since that is what fits the best on mine; the Drain Plug is also a T-45 Torx Bit.
Thanks 2010AveoLT. You are correct. A 15/16 socket fits the oil filter bolt. All I need now is a day without snowfall.
