      o2 sensor signal wire?

Hey guys, i was out messing with the aveo, and i was trying to hook up a autometer sport comp air/fuel ratio gauge i had laying around the garage. the problem is that im not getting any clear reading, im not sure that i have the right wire. can anyone tell me what color the 02 sensor signal wire is going to the pcm? i am pretty sure it is the black wire coming out of the 02 sensor pigtail, but when i am connected to that wire the a/f ratio gauge is jumping all over the place, from rich to lean back and forth, then when we rev the engine it will bounce back and forth again. mabye it will act diffretley under load. i wil;l probley try it tommorow under load

hehe... on a stock engine that's how it acts...

Regular Engine's are Narrowband O2 Sensor Units, so the O2 levels are constantly changing... When you floor it the gauge should read full rich (blue) if it is hooked up correclty.

Basically, if it is hooked up correctly, you get a nice light show... That's about all it's good for...

yeah i understand the diff between the narrow and wideband. i have worked on many turbo cars. but i have never installed a a/f ratio gauge on a stok o2 . i figured it is right, but i though it was weied that it kept going all the way to lean from rich. i thought it would stay in the stoich area more well lightshow here we come, hehe. this gauge is good for nothing in my opinion, it can not be used with a wideband. if we get the turbo running we will need to get a wideband and the gauge with not be any good to me. until then i will let the lights play.hehe thanks

Well on an aftermarket EMS it will work fine, but on a stock ECU it just doesn't get the right signal to be accurate...

Because of the way the ECU system works, it will only work during WOT at stated above.
