General consensus has been to go either with copper or iridium and avoid platinum. It's all anecdotal evidence, but it seems like the platinum plugs tend to lead to misfires on the Aveo.
EAD15 Your reply is noted and very much appreciated! NGK even lists a plug made with Ruthenium HX which sounds like a bit of hype. I will go with Laser Iridium @ $31.18/set. Sounds like when choosing a plug-set ,a shade tree mechanic needs to have the Periodic Chart of Elements on hand....got to keep it simple.
I use the Ruthenium HX but drive 120 miles a day communing they have a pad on the ground electrode so not just the positive tip.
With the Ruthenium car ran better theoretically will last longer used to use Bosh Platinum 4 only the positive is Iridium/Platinum plugs they are no longer made then the I believe the IX or was a iridium/platinum plug but cannot Rember but any way had to replace them once a year as were worn will see if the Ruthenium will last longer
sjcieckley1 I appreciate the heads up on the Ruthenium HX plug performance. October is when I do my once-a-year maintenance routine. I will check out price and availability.

Gap noted...Thanx! For what it is worth, I recently read of a non-Aveo forum owner using a narrow gap of( .37-.39 ) for Platinum. His rationale is that the narrow gap, over time, will widen due to normal electrode erosion, and thus will stay in "spec" longer. Sounds reasonable.
