Post My 07 Aveo 1.4 eating up coolant and getting heat up frequently

      Hi,

I am really upset with my 07 Aveo. The problem started with summers. With raising temperature outside the temp inside my aveo also increased. Suddenly it started heating up and coolant is drying up within week. With that the mileage has also dropped to 40%. I got it repaired and checked for any leakage, fan relay, radiator pipes blocking and got it serviced with new coolant. But since then mileage has gone down to 40% and coolant has dried up within a week. Dealer is not able to catch up the problem. Also once it got heat up I randomly switched off my Ac and suddenly the temp dropped down to normal. Kindly help what it could be. Is it a problem with AC compressor or with radiator. Please help me.

Do you see anything dripping, or is there anything wet either on top or on the underside of the vehicle? Do you see white smoke coming from the exhuast? Based on everything you said it sounds like a (badly) blown head gasket. But if so, the engine should also be running very poorly, with the check engine light blinking and a misfire code. And I would also expect even a really weak mechanic to find that problem very quickly, which makes me think it's something else. Were any other repairs done recently before this started happening?

based on your location, i would suspect thermostat. Does turning on the heat bring the operating temperature down?

Are you thinking thermo leak PR? He says he is also losing lots of coolant. This whole package doesn't make sense to me unless he also has a misfiring engine that he didn't mention.
