The engine from 2004 to 2008 is the same. So yes the metal thermostat housing will definitely bolt up.

I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Open the hood and look at the top radiator hose. Now on the engine and that hose is the thermostat housing. The easiest job you've ever seen!

Wow, you are right then... And how soon do they usually fail? I'm at about 30k and just wanna figure out when I should start worrying about it.

BTW, might do this when I drain/fill my coolant.

I have 75k km on the car with no problems so far... I'm not that worried about it. I'm pretty sure it was a problem blown out of proportion.

Cool. Thanks. Then I'll get to it when I figure out what I wanna put in there as far as coolant goes.

This. Which is why I didn't bother leaving the plastic one in there. I didn't see any signs of cracking and there didn't seem to be any leak; but may as well put the metal one and have it never crack. I'm around 94k km though.

      I think the one I got was something like this : http://shopping.canoe.ca/shop/product-- ... 39438.html

Also, isn't Prestone usually good? Anyone care to offer their input on coolant?

Any coolant is good as long as you follow the maintenance interval of the coolant. Regular coolant is 2 years, long life 5 years and Amsoil is 7 years.

Re: metal thermostat housing that can be delivered to Canada?

Frog got me beat, but this one is the one I was looking at using... I think I can get it through my AMSOil dealer (he might actually have it in stock, he's got about $17K US worth of that stuff at his garage at any given time).

      http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ant.aspx

That way I can just put it in there and not worry about it for the next 7 years or 250,000 miles. And that's a lot of years and/or miles for a car. I'll either sell, trade, or crash it way before that time comes.
