      How to remove/replace motor - 2008 1.6?

      Hi Everyone,

My son's 08 Aveo with the 1.6l motor is sucking all kinds of coolant.
I'm kicking around the idea of replacing the motor with a hopefully low km one as I really don't want to get in to the expense of rebuilding.

I'm not seeing any threads on removing an Aveo motor on this forum. Am I searching incorrectly?
I have an engine hoist, unless a specialty tool is needed, I have it.

I did see a very short thread where another member dropped his motor out the bottom. I'd be looking at taking it out thru the top of the engine bay.

I'm just not sure if the car is worth the expense and time of a motor. So, here I am trying to find out whats involved.

      Thank you,
I had just found that thread and was reviewing it. I appreciate you taking the time.
The job doesn't look too bad, I just need to find an inexpensive working motor now.

If you pull the motor & if it is a manual transmission , I suggest you check the clutch , pressure plate & throw out bearing .

If it is an automatic , I suggest you drain the ATF from the pan & torque converter .

      God bless
