Help! Stripped threads on 2010 Aveo oil pan.

Went to get oil changed and mechanic told me that the threads were coming apart when he was unscrewing oil drain plug. He screwed it back in and told me I was going to need a new oil pan. Im not sure what it would run or if I can find it used. Does it have to come off a 2010 aveo or does another gm car have the same oil pan. How hard would it be if I did it myself once I have the part? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks...

its not terribly hard, most oil pans are in the $112-164 dollar range, plus the seal and oil change cost. I have dnt quite a few oil pans, the worst was on a 09 cobalt, everything bolted to that damn thing.

the aveo doesnt look too bad but the exhaust passes under it, which is potentially a huge ordeal depending on your ability and "squeeze room"

You could just buy a dipstick oil changer and forget about it:

you could tap the hole and run a new plug and then a magnet along the bottom to get the shavings out.

If you do tap a new plug, remember to put some teflon tape on the threads. It will help keep any oil from dripping if the threads are not exact.
