Engine light turns on after fuel cleaner

Hi, I have this problem (Engine light turns on - P0131) after few miles drive with filling gas tank with fuel system cleaner as in instruction. I own chevy 2006 54k miles, and the mpg was really bad (around 15-17mpg city with a lot of stops). After putting techron in, mpg went up ridiculously high ( I get extra 100++ miles over half tank). The only bad side is the engine light turns on, it gives me this code P0131.

Should I just reset the code, or just wait until filling another tank of gas? Do i need to change heated o2 sensor?

      Thanks.

      p/s:
P0131 - The engine control module (ECM) detects that the HO2S 1 voltage is less than 50 mV.

the o2 might be a coincidence, ad it might be effected by the gas. clear the code, do not add fuel cleaner and see if the light comes back on.

btw, is there any chance i screw up the o2 sensor? or is it possible for o2 sensor to went bad before 100k miles? If so, what is most likely services need to be done (exhaust manifold cleaning due to clogging, etc)? lets say if it went bad, what brand should I choose (bosch, denso, acdelco, ngk, walker?)

i personally would go oem, but ngk is oem on ford, bosch is usually good. i tend to stay away from walker, denso and acdelco unless that is what was in there.

you can wash an o2 with too much fuel, running running, etc. And my o2 went bad at 26k miles, replaced under warranty. Any part can go bad, whether 1 mile or 500k, thats why manufacturers guaranteed it to last a certain amount of time.. because it should last that long.

the manifold wont clog, but the cat absolutely can. you should need to worry about that too much unless you get a secondary o2 code.

I have difficulty of removing the sensor due to narrow spot between the one side of the sensor hex nut and the exhaust manifold body. I have used a lisle 12100 oxygen sensor socket, but it just wont fit due to its thickness. Now I just bought a powerbuilt 648442 from amazon since it has less one hex side due to its bigger hole slot. Hopefully this time it works.

Does anyone tried just using a 7/8 wrench?

o2 sensors do have a life expectancy.. but 2-3 people on this forum having the same car does not account for a common failure.

If everyone on this forum experienced the issue, that would still only account for 1 % of all aveos.

if everyone on the forum had the problem,
gm/daewoo might have to fire someone.
it was more of a question than a statement.
      i thought it could be.

Replaced Bank 1 Sensor 2 on my 2005 Aveo at 75,000 miles.
Picked up the generic bosch one from Autozone.
