      ecu tuning?

Ok im to lazy to do a search lol.
but im trying to think of all the different ways there are to tune our computers for boost.
piggy backing i know is one option.
another i thought of though is if someone who knows how to hack into chevy ecu's can they hack into ours and tune them??
or is it a different ecu than other chevy ecus

The computer in these cars is not your average GM computer. Just from looking at it I don't think normal GM tuning will work because it is probably a totally different computer language. One thing you could possibly do is find an actual GM computer out of a cobalt or HHR with the 4 banger and send it in to a place like Nelson Performance (Click Me) along with your factory computer and have them reprogram it to work in the Aveo. That would give you a lot more tuning options than the little silver box you have now.

can they do that?? cuz i know that the cobalts with the 2.4l and the 2.0 supercharged can use HPTuners to tune there cars....and it would be so much easier to use that than to use some other thing

Yeah it can be done. You will need the factory plugs for the new computer and it will take some schematic research but it can be done.

It's done with the chevy trucks all the time. Switching to the newer ECU in the older trucks allows you to use the HPTuners, Livewire....etc.

I was going to do it on my '98 C1500 when I did the LS1 swap. I traded that truck in for this Aveo because of MPG.

The deciding factor would be if they can pull the factory tuning info out of the factory computer.

Give them a call. You may not be the first person looking into this.

yeah ive been trying to figure this crap out for so long lol.
what i REALLY want to do is swap in the LSJ from the ss/sc's
but im not sure what all needs to be done for that.
i know i would have to rewire the entire ecu from the cobalt.

Im guessing you also know about a stand alone system but your talking major money or the megasquirt. Its a do it yourself ecu that you can control about anything in the cars com. http://www.megasquirt.info%20there%2...20Good%20stuff
