Coolant Leak

Hi,

Have a 2006 Chevy Aveo LS.

A few weeks ago, it was overheating so I topped up the coolant with seemingly no issues.

However noticed today that it was overheating again. Bought some more coolant and then noticed it was
leaking onto the ground (under passenger side).

Clueless about this so can anyone advise if it is repairable without taking to a mechanic please?

Not driving it to work tomorrow for fear it may not make it, so will try and repair it at home if anyone can advise how to do it.

You will need to act as your own mechanic. That means putting on your old clothes, looking under the hood and getting underneath the car, using a light, to see where the leak is coming from.

The first step is diagnosing the problem. The next step is fixing it. That's what mechanics do, and why they are paid to do it.

You can either do it yourself, if you are willing and capable - or you can pay a mechanic to do the repair.

It's not that difficult to at least determine where it's leaking from. But first guess is water pump if it's down below like that.

Thermostat housing. If you don't attend to it now it could snap at some point and you'll have a complete leak. You can replace it with an aluminum piece and cinch it on to make sure there are no leaks. The stock plastic piece is junk.

also check at the hoses, at clamps, from the raidator. I had one leaking (the upr one) and had to replace the hose and the clamp.
