generally speaking the AEM bypass valve prevents hydrolocking which is a bad ass thing because noone wants to buy a new motor. My question is, putting the bypass valve after the filter is the right way to use it, but dosent it still suck hot air if its in the engine comparment?? if so would it better to relocate it higher up in the wheel well for more of a cold air effect? Thanks for your time.
it has always been my understanding that the valve will not suck up any air, as it should only take in air if the main filter is submerged?
I was thinking the same thing myself but I did notice a small decrease in power since i added it. makes not much sense but i might be imagining things. We all know we cant lose any power for these vehicles lol, we need all we can get
it goes between the pipes in the sri filter location
it stays closed, until it becomes the path of least resistance
Understood, Thank you all for a speedy response! This might sound a bit excessive but i was thinking about making a special heatshield out of sheet metal for the case of the bypass valve being used because of heavy rain. I guess to keep it a true cold air intake. I also wanna rip the intake off and paint the inside and out with high heat header paint, and to top it off use the heatshield tape sold at autozone pep boys ETC: maybe even double up the heatshield tape. Im not real big on looks, im a performance guy... let me know what you all think about it. Thank you.
you don't need the heat tape, but ceramic type header paiint inside and out is a good idea.
if its raining hard enough that your bypass is your soul air intake, you have bigger problems than heat soak.. you really dont need the shield is what i am saying. Even though the pipe might get warm, heat soak is about the air traveling inside.. which is the cooler air inside the fender well.

so I was right, I would not worry about the heat, the pipe will get hot no matter what, valve or no valve
