Always best to diagnose rather than just hang parts on. Start by taking it to a shop or auto parts store that has a reader capable of reading the TCM. The P0700 is a generic, place-holder code and indicates that one or more TCM codes have been set. Those more specific OBD codes are often very helpful in diagnosis, and sometimes point directly to the problem. The Transmission level and quality of the fluid is another important factor as well.

TCM codes and not shifting into 4th is possibly a solenoid issue. Might be an easy fix since the Aveo has a trans pan.

BUT you need to know what the actual trans codes are to know what to replace.

Well, I took my car to the dealership and they said it was the TCM and charged me $130 for the diagnostic and wanted to sell me one for $550, I bought a use one for $26 and had it reprogrammed in another shop, After that, the mecanic told me it was the ECM instead of the TCM, I put a use one on it and it has been working nice for a week now, I hope to get other 4 years out of it
