Axle seals gone bad at 50k?

Had my '09 sedan in for an oil change at my uncle's shop the other day, and he pointed out that I've got a leaky drive axle seal. I'm at 52k right now, with another year left on the factory powertrain warranty.

So, out of curiosity:

1.) This seems abnormal. Anyone else ran into this problem?

2.) Since it's technically part of the powertrain, would warranty cover it?

It's not a terribly expensive repair, he estimated $150ish parts and labor, but the less money you've gotta spend on stuff like that, the more you have for important things...like beer and records.

here's an excerpt from my 2010 Warranty Booklet:

so YES, those axle seals ARE Covered by the 5/100K Powertrain Warranty.

So yeah, take it in, get em to fix it.
