Went to the 1/4 mile drags tonight, car was running very good running in the high 16's on my 3rd pass the tranny blew off the line. Too much torque for the little d16 to hold hahah
Whats even worse, my friend's mx3 klze turbo blew his engine too... 2 cars on 1 towing pretty funny.
what did you just post a couple of days ago about blowing trannys, that is some bad luck, too bad to hear

I use to have an MX3, my first car infact. I kind of wish I had kept it at times, I know if I did it'd have a KLZE in it for sure 8) . I didn't do it before because at the time the swap hadn't really been explored
What is the daewoo 6-speed, a d20? I think...swap that in there, it would definently hold up. Correction: It's an F40.
I honestly dont have a clue to the power i was putting down, but it was enough to blow the tranny lol, looks like the D16 isnt very strong, its also true that mine was pretty beat up, i put it thru alot of stress over the years and with the 3rd gear grinding all the time it was just a question of time until something broke. Funny thing is the tranny has been working so well for the past week or 2, 3rd gear was perfect nothing was grinding.Quote:

Correction again, its the F28 that you can find in the Opel Calibra AWD. You need to import it from europe, convert it to FWD, then it installs fairly easily with a custom mount. The F40's bell housing is completely different, wont bolt up to the 1.6 or 2.0.Quote:

damn. but sounds like you expected it.
might not have just been the hp though sounds like too much stress on worn parts. hp typically blows first gear or the diff or an axle right off the line, and you know it.
what track did that happen at?
Now we know why they had two versions of the same transmission. Hopefully the D20 is exactly the same...a little bit stronger though mind you! lol

You might wanna chek that one again, theres a 1/4 mile strip at Mirabel Airport (thats where i blew my tranny) and a 1/8 mile strip at St-Eustache Autodrome. Both of these tracks are completely off the road and nowhere near traffic, its 100% legal.
Theres also a 1/4 mile strip at Napierville but thats a little far.
So thats makes at least 2 local and legal tracks near me. Im sure there are more.
