Hahah isnt that true, the engine is a U20SED, same engine exist3nce has in his turbo Optra. Can't really take a teaser pic as I have nothing to photograph, gotta wait till the engine is delivered to the shop tomorow morning.

I'm gonna start with just swapping it and getting it to run good, turbo might come later on if i have the time and funds for it.

Heres the pics of the engine when it arrived this morning, a good wash and its gonna be just like new, looks like its been well maintained, 74000km (I bought a new Gates timing belt for the motor, gonna change it while we have it on the ground, that way gonna be safe for a while) I was surprised to see a FRAM oil filter on there, those are more expensive then the "usual" ones, a sign that the person who had it musta took take of the motor. Up to now im pretty satisfied, the car is beeing towed in tomorow morning and work should start sometime next week!

Re: Aveo 2.0L ... It has begun!

thats awesome man, i drove my buddy's optra and that engine is alot better then ours, as for FRAM oil filter its the cheapest one here in Hamilton, Ontario from Canadian tire, and thats the one i use. never gave me any problems.

are you going to take the engine apart for inspection/ cleaning or just put it in? also i don't see a transmission, so im asuming your going to use the aveo's d16 insted of optra's d20?

Re: Aveo 2.0L ... It has begun!

Yes im using everything from the 1.6L including the accessories, it's obvious im gonna need a new serpentine belt, but im confused if i should get one for the 1.6L or the 2.0L

The fram filters are cheap around Hamilton? Theyre the most expensive around here, anyhow i think its a better filter then the cheap "white" ones the dealers put in hehe
