2007 vs 2008 Aveo LS Sedan motor swap

Will a 2007 Aveo LS Sedan Manual Trans and motor swap into a 2008 LS Sedan (Auto) without issue? Are there any differences in the motor or engine bay between the 2007 and 2008 Aveo?

There may be minor differences, but the parts from the old engine can be swapped to the new engine if need be. I swapped an 07 into my 04 and had to use a few parts off the old engine. It really wasn't a big deal though.

Thanks! I figured since it's the same motor and same body and I'll have both complete cars I should have everything I need mostly- oddly enough I was curious specifically because they have different MPG ratings so maybe it's weight or emissions related.

So will a 2007 Manual Trans Computer work with and reflash to an 08 VIN?

Or will just the Pcm change over without issue?

I wouldn't swap the ECU. It will need to have a crankshaft relearn procedure done though.

I may just swap the motor and leave the auto in it so that nothing else needs to be changed.

The wiring harness is different for the AT so I would probably have to swap that too if I want to keep my manual trans.

Can the relearn procedure be done with a scan tool or?

Ok so basically I did the motor swap, the 07 motor went in the 08 with some maneuvering but once mounted to the trans there was a pooping noise, after getting everything together and trying to line up the bolts from the flywheel to torque converter, it was all locked up. I split the cases again lined them up got the bolts in and still the trans is all locked up- I noticed upon further inspection that the trans back plate (closest to the driver side wheel) is cracked. I think I may have botched the insides of the tranny or something else went wrong. I basically am trying to figure out if I can use my 07 MT on the 08 or if I should just buy another AT and pray it goes in fine.

      Things im concerned with are:
Matching/swapping wiring harnesses (everything seems the same besides trans sensor plugs)
Matching the VINs if I swap the MT in (not sure if 07 comp can be reflashed to 08 vin)
Or replacing the 08 comp with the manual comp from the same year

I basically went from a running but beat to hell 07 to a poor running bad timing belt 08 to neither running and no car so I'm trying to figure out how I can fix this without having to pour $250-$1000 into it

Update: motor is in and I installed a new automatic transmission ($100) and all is well so far. After researching I realized it wasn't cost effective to swap the manual trans in and have to do the wiring harness etc. on that note I have an entire 2007 manual trans Aveo with a working motor that needs a new timing belt and to be put back together. If anyone is interested in parts or the whole car. It's 2007 and has valid pa inspection for at least 6 months.

If if people are interested I could write up some of the tricks I learned during the process including removing all necessary parts (harmonic balancer, ps pump, alternator, compressor, mount, starter, radiator fan, etc. I don't have a ton of pictures but I can try to explain the processes and steps I took.

Also I read somewhere that a crankshaft position sensor relearn would be necessary but have yet to need to do one (also I'm fairly certain that the 2007 and 2008 have the same exact sensor) but we will see.
