Im having issues finding a matching thermostat housing/water block for my Aveo I managed to find one with the hose I required but it says that it fits the 1.8l ecotec engines will this be compatable?

IMHO, I believe the bare thermostat housing of a 2009-2011 Aveo 1.6 Ecotec is comparable (compatible?) with the bare thermostat housing of the 1.8 Ecotec's used in 2011 and up Cruze LS's, and the 2012 and up Sonic LS's. I am 95% certain, but it is very difficult to prove. There are dozens of aftermarket suppliers on Amazon that state their bare thermostat housings are compatible with both the 1.6 and 1.8 engines. However, if you go to the GM parts catalogs, you will notice that they no longer sell the bare thermostat housing for either the 2009-2011 1.6 Aveos, or the 1.8 Cruzes and Sonics. GM will only sell you the complete thermostat housing with thermostat and temperature sensor. So because of differences in either the thermostat and/or temperature sensor, the GM part number will be different for the 2009-2011 1.6 Aveos and their 1.8 Cruze/Sonic cousins. Summary: I think your proposed 1.8 thermostat housing will work with the 2009-2011 1.6 Aveos, assuming it is fitted with the proper thermostat and temperature sensor required by the 2009-2011 Aveos.
