Trunk will not open

I have an 07 Chevy Aveo Sedan and when I got to work today my trunk would not open. The trunk button on the door does not work, the button on my key does not work, and the key will not turn in the trunk lock. Any ideas? Thanks

It's possible something may be jamming the latch. Try lowering the back seat and see if there is anything obvious in the way.

If the latch is just caught up on something, you might be able to sit on the edge of the trunk (to take some pressure off the latch) and then turn the key to open it.

Does the inside of your trunk have the interior emergency open cable(the little plastic cable)? Does it open when you pull that?(you would have to fold down the seat to get to it though)

It does have the emergency cable but i had to pull on it so hard the handle came off. Trunk still refuses to open.

Sounds like the latch is either broken, or rusted (that would be odd) so it won't move. Can you see any visible damage to it?

There is no visible damage. I left my house and the trunk was working. By the time I got to work the trunk was broken.

Shoot some WD40 in the keyhole and slowly, lightly turn the key (don't snap it off!) back and forth. Put a hairdryer to it warming up any hard accumulated grease/gunk. Had this problem with truck, hatchback. My latch was stuck on my Aveo. I hardly ever opened the hatch.
"Click" but not unlatch. I just kept un/locking until it opened. When I did get it open I lubed it up good with chain and cable lube working it for several minutes. I remember to open it now and again lubing it summer/winter. So far, so good.

Have you tried opening it using the Emergency Release inside the trunk?

Yeah I tried to pull on it. I had to pull so hard the handle broke off in my hands. On the list of problems I have had with this car this is a small inconvenience. Thanks
