that will go over about as well as the metric system.
Even though metric system makes more sense... if the wrench you grabbed is 17mm and it's too small, you should grab... 18mm!!! and 10mm make a cm... 10cm make a decimeter... 10 decimeters make a meter... 1000 meters make a kilo meter...
1000 grams make a... kilogram!... 1000 kilograms make a ton... so half a ton is 500 kilos.... now try doing all that in inches....
Oh, and how about a celcius measuring system... 0 degrees - the water is frozen. 100 - it's boiling...
The rest of the world is using it... but we "stick to our 250 year traditions"... or whatever other excuse everyone has. Metric/Celcius makes more sense.

Only a handful of countries don't use the metric system... That's how "well it goes over".[/quote:2axyt4d3]
thats kind of what i meant.
i like the metric system, i build frames etc with metric tolerances.. use metric tools. prefer metric tape measure. even the metric clock is nice :P
its still more of a concept though because unseen distances i dont know how many km are between here and there etc.. americans in general are just too stubborn and stupid to switch.. i think most younger generations could, the population as a whole though, not so sure.
Re: Suggestion for the moderators
maybe i am showing my age because i remember when the metric system was reintroduced in schools to counteract "a nation at risk"?
Re: Suggestion for the moderators
I'm in Canadia and I used MPG for the longest time, just seemed to make sense. I started using L/100KM now and it definitely takes some getting used to. I do think that KM per L would make more sense than L/100KM though.
I always use the US measurement for gallons, there's no point otherwise.
The main issue I see with people reporting their mileage is in the method used to calculate the mileage! They "claim" however many miles per gallon, and they just insist that it's true because they feel that way.
The kind of tool we need would have to require how many gallons or liters were used, and how many miles or kilometers were driven, and then display the results in MPG and L/100KM or whatever.
If the ACTUAL usage of how many gallons/liters vs the ACTUAL distance in miles/kilometers CANNOT be provided, the claim of how many MPG or L/100KM is pretty much null and void is it not??

I'm still confused. I understand "miles per gallon". To me that seems simple and straightforward. We don't express it in quarts or gallons used per 100 miles (or for that matter per 100KM, which is about 60 miles). It's a totally different method of calculating and expressing things, and it makes it difficult to translate one system to the other. :?

not really, the lowest mpg cars for this model year is like 3 of the lambos rated at liek 9,11,13 a piece, though, they tax the hell out of the because of it lol
Re: Suggestion for the moderators
That was a good article... Weird at first that 10mpg to 20mpg is more of an improvement than 25 to 50, but makes sense...
Re: Suggestion for the moderators
you fool, toyota will disagree with its 52mpg prius which is saving the world, and keeping its drivers safe. even though the battery leads to more pollution than other cars, it matters not, 52mpg!!!!! and toyota!!!!!
