Programming new key
Hi all-
New 2008 Aveo owner here. Bought with only 4000 miles (wow!) recently. Grandma only drove it to the store and back 1X a week.
Anyhow, I have:
1 working key with remote buttons (lock/unlock)
2 working keys with no buttons (had them cut after I bought the car)
1 key with remote buttons that NEEDS PROGRAMMED. I purchased and had it cut. It operates car...but does not yet have working buttons.
I get confused on whether there are actually any Aveos out there with a transponder/chip...BUT I know mine does not have one.
With that said, DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO PROGRAM THE NEW KEY? I know there is a simple procedure but I can't find anyone on here that has documented it.
Thanks!
Bryan

I dont think programming the fob is simple. some GM transponder keys can be simple, but not the fobs
PS, None of the USDM Aveos had transponder keys

I have an 09 Aveo with a transponder key (Though I'm in Canada). Neither the transponder or the remote portion of the key are user-serviceable. I can't find anything online regarding user-serviceable programming, so try calling around to some locksmiths. Any websites I've found for the 08 or the 09 models have said that the keys are dealer-only, transponder or no.

Public service announcement... It may only have 4000 miles, BUT GET THAT TIMING BELT LOOKED AT!
