Post Just purchased used 08 Aveo...any advice?

Just purchased a used 08 Aveo last night. It is a automatic with 78k miles. Any driving, maintinance, or upgrade advice to increase life and mileage would be appreciated. It will be a daily driver for work. 60-70 miles/daily.

Maintenance is the same as most other cars. Change the oil every ~5k miles. I forget what the timing belt change interval is on the 08 if someone could chime in that'd be useful.

As for driving just keep your top speed down and you'll see a good raise in mpg, and make sure your tires are pumped up. I use the max pressure on the tire vs the door jam rating which helps the mpgs a little.

Thanks! Only driven it once but it doesn't seem to like speed all that much anyway. Hope previous owners kept it up and I get 200k out of it!

Is the slightly rough idle normal or something I need to look into? It idles around 1500 rpm

1500rpm for idle is high, unless the engine is cold, then it's normal.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

      I
just purchased one on saturday mines an 08 but it has 146,000 miles, im glad that you started this thread because i have been wondering the same thing. Im know for sure that i am going to get the transmisson serviced. I also am replacing the water pump and timing belt, timing belt pulley and tensioner and idler pulley. i also got new plugs, wires, ignition coil, air filter, serp belt and serp belt tensioner. I may be going a little overboard but I dont have the history of maintinance for the car.

the 08 has a 60k mile belt. Hopefully both of your aveos just had them done before you bought them.

I sure hope that they did to. there is a mechanic here in town where i live that is going to install all those parts i listed 2 post ago plus a serp pulley for $150.00. I was going to do it but since he said that he would do it for that I think i am just going to let him do it.
