An intake and exhaust is easy to do, but you will easily pour $1000's of dollars into it if you do anything else, not worth it on this car in my opinion.

since you need to do a five speed swap, here is what you do..

2009+ aveo harness, 1.8 cruze long block, cruze five speed transmission, aveo axles..

then trifecta chip, cai, eliminate (swap) muffler, get in on the pulley group buy, ect. You should get to about 175-180 hp. And spend less than $3000.. (maybe more since your a manual swap (tried to include it but unforeseen costs might be there).

thats my plan probably in a summer or two..

for me, its $1400 for the long block, i think $300 chip, and cost of the pulley.

I am tempted for the 6 speed though. Although i like the ratios on the aveo tranny, so ill attempt to blow that up first.

These cars were not designed to handle alot of horsepower and will just tear themselves apart if your looking for speed get an older chevy for 5 or 6 grand you can buy a turnkey motor that nets 400 hp and will destroy the most tricked out aveo you can dream up!! Gotta side with thehunteroo on this one

Eh, no cars are designed to make tons more power than they make. Keep building power and eventually something will break in any vehicle. Some just have easily fixable weak points. The Aveo is no exception to the rule. There are some guys making some pretty good power though.

building unusual cars is fun. I'm not looking for 400 hp. but the cruze driveline in an aveo is not only performance oriented, its economical. with less car and the cruze drivetrain you will/can get more mpg too..

I've gotta admit it is interesting to see all the things you folks are doing with these aveos. Don't get me wrong I like the aveo very much but balk at investing money in trying to make it a performance car. I kinda side with hunterooo when it comes to that. But hey it take all kinds to make the world an interesting place !!!

i've owned a lot of higher hp cars, the thing i like about the aveo is its size and weight.

i could always have a 1000 hp ______ that weighs 3-4x the aveo, is over twice the size, etc. And sure the aveo still wont be "as much" fun even with 200hp..

but why be like everyone else?
