i need some info on nos...... help!!
I have a 2005 aveo lt and I have been wanting to make it a mega sleeper car and i have ran by every idea from dropping in a turbo to doing an engine swap but i dont have the time or the money to do a complete rebuild to do all of that so i have been considering beefing up the head gasket and head studs and running 100 to 150 shots but im affraid that im just going to blow my car up and be completly screwed. what scares me the most is that i really dont know what i can push on stock so i dont know how much i need to do to be able to make this work... if any one can help me it would be appreciated.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
I am not an expert but you should take it to someone who can do it properly because My friend who attended a car show in Baton Rouge Louisiana Last year watched what doing it improperly can do to a car A rarely driven 2006 Pontiac GTO with only 3,000 Miles blew out all the windows and the driver was blown out the roof. What happened was he put the Nos in and didn't tighten the bolts to the engine and when he pushed the button the car's radio shot out of the car and landed in the College Drive Walmart Parking Lot. Do it safely but becareful not to rush.

Just remember the trannie in the Aveo is only good for 220hp, after that well [-X
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
Way too high a shot for a stock motor like this. Honestly, best bet if you are dead set on it would be a small 50-75 shot plate system. I wouldn't though....Nitrous is for experts that really understand all the characteristics of it. It doesn't work like "The Fast and The Furious" where you just push a button and go...there's a lot to it. Nitrous is very dangerous, boost can be just as dangerous when the turbo, plumbing, wiring and tuning aren't done correctly. You should put your money and time into the bread and butter of performance with your car, like starting with intake, exhaust, cams and other internals.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
Wolf, you might want to ellaborate on "other internals" and about cams, do we have any aftermarket options available to us or are they only done by shops on one-by-one basis?
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
forged rods, options of different pistons with various compression ratios and diameters, different grinds of cams, etc are available through a few sources.. i don't think to many have experimented with stroker kits or anything...
honestly in my opinion, short cuts like nitrous on a stock engine are really a bad idea. but when you build a performance engine you need to build it with nitrous in mind just like you build an engine with plans to turbo it.

Exactly! +1
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
but if one was inclined to us this gas, then a 50 shot is all that you would want to use, i would not even think of a larger shot

Actually you can run as much hp as you want, it's not hp that kills transmissions, it's torque.
You dont want more then 185ish lb-ft of torque at the wheels on your D16 else it wont last too long.
Re: i need some info on nos...... help!!
my step dad keeps wanting to put a 50 shot on my car :P
if i were to find a cheap kit, i would use it as a learning experience, he does have a lot of experience with it himself
