I believe shift knob is non removeable. When I replaced the shift boot on my 2011 due to cigarette burn holes, the knob and shift arm( lever) are all one, knob does not screw off. The knob and arm are sold as a one-piece unit. Be sure to lube the linkage that is exposed when the boot is off. Good luck.

Got it. I took a risk to diassembled the whole unit and put the knob into boiling water so that the rubber knob becomes soft. Then I pulled it off quite easily. Here is the new shift knob I installed. Does it look better?Name: IMG_1256.jpg

hi im new to the forum.

just willing to change my shifter knob on my chevy kalos 2004.
im plannin to boil (as u guys advise)it so that i can remove it. but after removin what type of an aftermarket shift knob i can put back there?

original is threaded? (i think so) then why it is glued so hard if its already threaded?

i feel uncomfortable in case i remove it and then cant put anything else there or i simply screw things up.

      any help?
