I just hit 100K on my 06 Aveo sedan, and I am getting worried it is reaching the end of it's life =/
I do not know for sure, just a gut feeling. Does anyone the life expectancy of an Aveo?

See: http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f81/h...miles-km-9865/
if it has been maintained, it will last you another 100k easy, things are going to go out of course, but they shouldnt if it has been taken care of, not like a new engine is expensive or anything :P
I haven't changed my timing belt yet due to cash shortages =/ I'm a tad nervous to drive it at the moment.
damn, your at 100k on the first belt? That should be a good indication that the car will last a while :P , the timing belt has almost doubled it's life :P
i would get that changed next before anything else though
It will last as long as you are willing to keep and fix it.
I would check your timing belt. You are not the first I have heard to wait that long on a timing belt. But you should see if it is OK. As you will probably be willing to get rid of it if the engine craps out but $300-500 in maintenance To prevent it is cheaper than a set of tires.
Another vote for the timing belt, I'm actually about to do mine. Maybe your gut feeling is telling you to do it. :P
How have your 100k been? If they haven't been too problematic, and you continue to maintain it; I don't see why you should be too concerned?
Any rust?
I got the car at about 85K and haven't had any problems with it it, been very pleased with it. And no, I have not seen any rust on it.
maybe you will beat ny's record of timing belt life :P
Which is?
I'm sure you've beaten it. I thought it was in the 90k's? Someone refresh my memory.Quote:

i am pretty sure ny was in the 90's.. but i do recall someone at like 105k.. not sure who.
Pah. The timing belt at my Ford Focus is at 136k miles right now. 8)
That's a focus though... they are not known for breaking the timing belt at 60k. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but in a focus a broken timing belt doesn't do nearly as much damage as if a belt breaks in an Aveo.
breaking a timing belt in a focus certainly does not do to much damage to the aveo..
I lol'd.Quote:

I'm new to this board but I just wanted to say that my 2004 aveo has 168,000 miles so I think yours has plenty of life left.
That's good to hear.Quote:

Is this quote you have under your post the way you feel or not? 100,000 on it is nothing. BUT, get that timing belt done or the car is going to be done...or a project for someone.... 168,000 mi is great! Anyone out there with 200,000 mi or know someone with that many yet?
i think you lead all aveo owners lolQuote:

my "neighbors" car.. 174k and still going..
nvm then
It is if you read Consumer Reports Annual Auto edition only 44% of current Aveo Buyers will buy another. I run a paper route in mine and it has 92230 miles I go through more tires than anything I have changed the brakes five times Three times on the OEM Rotors and this is my second on my Replacement ones I always change my rotors after two times changing brakes I Don't turn them because it is a waste of money and I want to live. Changed the transmission fluid but can't seem to find the Filter for it, I listened to my teacher who said every oil change drain transmission fluid and put new back in. so that the transmission doesn't fail.Quote:

take it to the dealer, they will service it there, as for the brakes idk, i have just put on drilled and slotted rotors a while back becuase the stock rotors were looking ugly and the pads where still like new, i wouldnt be suprised if they last me another 100k miles, maybe the brakes need to be adjusted too, something else the dealer should look at
speaking of wasting money.. if the transmission stays sealed the tranny fluid would potentially last 60-100k miles.Quote:

Rabbit, what about the manual transmission? I was thinking on "wasting my money" on replacing it with AMSOil manual transmission fluid, but Chevy dealer said it already comes with synthetic. And, correct me if I'm wrong, I probably won't see any major improvements in my transmission's performance if I change it from GM synthetic fluid to AMSOil synthetic fluid...
Yes the manual transmission already comes with synthetic oil. Actually, the fluid should last the life of the vehicle. The only thing recommend to do is check the fluid level every oil change.Quote:

But until it has some mileage on it, then you start checking the color, looking for burn etc. Unless you are terrible to the tranny or there is something else wrong with it, i don't see any reason it should need changed. (maybe a long life change every 100k or something?) Other than an attempted upgrade, but if it already has synthetic in it, you wont see a performance change. VW owners like putting gm syncromesh in their trannys for an improvement, i imagine being this car is a GM that it has that, or its korean equivalent.
changing the tranny fluid with every oil change is about as wasteful as the government overseeing BP fixing an oil spill.
Hmm.. and where do you check the manual transmission fluid level/color?
And the oil spill... I thought when the initial fire happened, the BP did try to contact coast guard, but they said something along the lines: "you're in the international waters, you're on your own"? And now coast guard is giving BP a "deadline" to work better and contain it by the end of the weekend?

I am not paying a dealer 100.00 for brake service I wouldn't let them change a spark plug.Quote:

I also know the common procedures involved in draining all the fluid out of the auto tranny and torque converter (to run it empty)can cause about 1000-10k miles of wear internally because the fluid isn't there, which isn't an issue with recommended service intervals. But everytime you change the fluid you shorten the life of the bands and clutches. Because running it and cycling out all the fluid procedurally is still comparable to cruising on the highway with low fluid. Sure no load there but you still run it dry.
ive got 130 k on nine really every 60 to 80 thoulsand u outta change it ,,if u do that and just general up keep u wiull get 200000 easy ,,i have an 06 i drive at least 100 miles every day ,,ive literally beat it up ,,clutch is feeling a lil squeemish now(but doing holeshots at work didnt help this lol)

oops ,,edit i mean chng timing belt,,,,,,,,,,,,,
dude is right on about tranny fluid if it shifts good and its it doesnt hav couple hundred thoulsand miles spend that cash elsewhere
i know this sounds crazy but trannys get use to the charachteristics of that dirty fluid. ive actually known some instances where the knew fluid causd more problems than old , an old man told me this 20 years ago ,,i didnt believe him then ,,but he was exactly right and his 200g sklant 6 dodge dart never had tranny pan dropped
you sold a newer GT?!?!
yeah i did
i loved it but i didnt love the payment between house child support and just life i decided i could use cash elsewhere ,,butr heres a pic
