Holes in spare tire well?
I had a flat tire the other night (a nail, probably courtesy of Home Depot) and when I pulled out the donut spare, I noticed two black rubber plugs in the spare tire well. Turns out they plug a couple of holes (maybe 1-2 inches each?) that are open to the ground. Does anyone know what these holes are for? I figure they were just for manufacturing convenience, but I wondered if there was any more interesting reason for them.
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
i think thats for the hitch u can buy for the car
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
Hmmm. Probably a 3-lb towing capacity on the Aveo; why bother?
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
ive used them to drain the water out of my car, LOL
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
those holes are for when you need to use it as a cooler for your beer, and later you can drain it out when the ice melts. and it has that handy carpeted cover to conceal your brew!

thats actually a killer, fuel efficeint way to tailgate! now, how to incorporate a grill...
maybe a grill over the gas tank wouldnt be a good idea???
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
lol all good ideas but the holes are infact there to drain out any water that might get in there
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
Y'all crack me up. If only I could reach that cooler while driving on a hot day!
Re: Holes in spare tire well?
water... also you can use them to run the power wire for your undercar neon as I did in my wifes MS Protege.

The hitch for these cars (the hatch at least) is mounted to the rear bumper reinforcement. It would probably pull the floor out if mounted in those holes. Also, I'm not sure what the towing capacity is on these cars but I towed a fully loaded U-haul across the country (5000 km) and had no problems except for really dirty trans fluid.
