I now have 130k miles. I changed tires, front breaks, spark plugs once (lol), rear shocks, timing belt, got an exhaust pipe cut and welded back.
It's still running pretty well, I have minor issues though.

150k miles on my 07 Aveo5. I am going to drive it till it blows up. DRL module has failed, Airbag Module has failed but I wear the seat belt and keep driving on.
My 2007 Aveo has 215,000 miles on it. Timing belt has been changed once.
Talk about borrowed time :D
I just got an email from a site visitor (not a member)...
... and replied with a link to read through this thread.Quote:
I have a 2008 Aveo LS Chevrolet and I would like to know how many miles I can expect in its life time. I am thinking about trading it in and it has 88,000 miles on it. Thank you, Sally
My 07 hatch has 130k, minor issues, airbag light on all the time now, timing belt replaced at 60k getting ready to do it again, vacuum lines are crap, have to keep replacing elbows.
I'd thought I was putting miles on my car, but these numbers stun me. But they're also encouraging! My 07 (purchased early 08 and driven little first year) has 71k miles and has been back to a dealer precisely once - for the timing belt replacement at 50k. Main problem: the bottom foam in the two front seats has basically failed. If I propose to take more than a 1-hour trip, I'd better dig out the super-dense foam cushions I made for these seats.
I use ordinary oil, but Mobil 1 filters. The single feature which bugs me the most is the driver door lock. If it's engaged, I've got to reach around and pull up the knob to exit. NOT a good feature if the car was in an accident and caught fire. So I drive with it unlocked except in bad neighborhoods.
I'm right at 130k right now, but I don't drive very far anymore now that I'm done with college. I switched to Valvoline Max-Life Semi-Synthetic 10w-30, and run it year around. I also run the Fram High mileage filter, I've got the "number" for it recorded in my spreadsheet maintenance log. The oil is always as clean as the day I put it in after a change at about 4.5k. My car seems to love the switch, it runs smoother and sounds "meatier". I went to buy the Max-Life once in the summer and they were out of 5w-30 and I figured 10w-30 one time wouldn't hurt it. It ran totally fine from the start, no issues prior that would warrant a switch. The sound and feel improvement was astounding, so I've stuck with it ever since. That was about a year ago, and three oil & filter changes. No issues to date. :)
I agree with AveoZ on the door locks, I never lock the doors when I'm in the car. Thankfully this is a small town and I don't really have to worry about being mugged. I DESPISE the vehicles that autolock when putting them into gear, or after you start moving. I am SO thankful that Chewy does not do that, I would've tried to have it disabled if it did. I do like the child locks for the back. I keep them disabled though since I don't have any kids nor haul any around.
It would make me nuts if I didn't have keyless entry, you can only lock it from the outside driver door with the key if you don't. I wish it was where you could hit lock and it would chime and wait for you to close all doors. After about 5 seconds the doors will lock, that gives you an "OH SH*T!" window, to not lock your keys in the car or forget something. Plus time to open another door before it locks, and then it'll wait for you to close the other door. My Mammaw's 02 Malibu is that way since it's an LS and doesn't have keyless entry.
Just my two cents.
Oh! And welcome to the forum AveoZ! :)

I guess I am in the 200K club? lol My Orange LS just clicked off 242,000 miles, however it broke the timing belt around 239K (due to improper install btw) when I bought it for $500, and far as I can tell it has had at least one tranny swap, (engine is original to car) and now the engine is rebuilt as well. Next belt is due at 300K so I will post an update im sure. I have seen aveo owners claim much higher mileage so I don't even consider this to be an issue as long as they keep making parts. Miles are just a number. I have worked on/driven Toyota's with well over 550K miles on them and still drove fine when maintained. IMO the odometer number only matters on cars that are neglected, for cars that are maintained it is only a number. - Apparently it also matters when a car lot wants to gouge a customer I hear. lol
Just hit 99k the other day, should hit 100k by Christmas. It recently had the head rebuilt at 96k miles due to the previous owner neglecting the timing belt. With a new top-end, I am hoping to get another 100k miles out of it or pass it on to someone else in the same shape I bought it in.
I orginally bought the Aveo as a beater car, to save me from putting excess mileage on my Jeep which is currently financed. However, I put a some extra $$ into the Aveo and it runs and look 1000% better.
i just broke the 136K mark yesterday
My 2011 has 68k.
The Engines good (just over 152.5K miles) and hope it will go on more... although there are quite a bit of problems that started to rise in the past 15K km.
Ok so... I'm new to the forum, been stalking a while but after reading this thread I had to sign up and share!
I'm at 291k on my 2005! Bought it off a family friend a year ago when she had 230. It's all original besides brakes, tires, a wheel bearing and tune up. I know she hasn't had a timing belt yet... And that sh*t scares me everyday!
Anyway, happy I finally signed up, you guys look like a knowledgeable, friendly group of people!
Translation for the rest of the world: 291k miles = 468k km.
That beats my personal record (in an old Accord).
Welcome to the forum!
Dang, thats a lot of miles on an Aveo! Nice. They must have taken pretty good care of it.
Haha thanks for the conversion... I'll try to remember to do that from now on.
Yeah they absolutely maintained the craps out of it! That's the only reason I'd buy something with such high mileage... Of course it needed some other work when I got her, but motor and trans run GREAT! I'm gonna keep takin care of her and see how far she goes!
Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad I finally signed up!

Wow, and 291K miles on a timing belt must be up there in the record books as well. Life on the edge! No reason you won't see 491K miles either, but might wanna change that timing belt before then ;)
I have 142,000 miles on my 2007.
I was worried cuz the oil light came on this past weekend.
Mechanic fixed it today - just a faulty oil sending unit switch !
Now I may hit 200,000!👌
I also have the Trailing Arm bushing problem -
replacing that next week thanks to the guys on this forum!!
142,000 today
I have just made it!!!

Woot woot! You're catching up to me! Haha come on... I'm never number one in something... Someone's got higher mileage... Well, maybe that doesn't make me number one.... Lol
New to the forum! My Aveo is a 2006 and I have 126K miles on mine. Changed the timing belt @ 101k miles. I've also had to replaced the right outer tie rod end, & thermostat housing. I'm a MOPAR guy but I really like my little Aveo. My mom bought car new in 2005. She passed away in 2013 and I inherited the Aveo. Good car!
Ok guys.... Bad news... 294,000 miles+/- and I shredded the timing belt I was heading down the highway and heard something slapping around under the hood. I took the first exit I saw, ran the red, got into the nearest parking spot and shut her down... I had power the whole time, I think it was coming apart slowly and didn't straight up break, so I'm hoping I didn't bend any valves etc.... It's getting fixed tomorrow then back on the road to keep my number one spot on this thread!
Any update, Aginaga? Is it still alive?
I've been working 70+ a week so my dad's buddy has been working on it... Yes gonna get the head completely off tonight. I got the time right and it wouldn't start so I'm assuming the valves are bent. I'm praying that there's no holes in the pistons and I can save her... Unfortunately it's just not financially possible for me to replace the motor so I'll have to scrap her if there are :(
152,387 and running like brand new. Except the sunroof.
197,756 miles
I have 230,000 on mine with just oil changes every 10,000 and my timing belt idler just broke. This is my first major problem.
230k miles = 370k km!
Congrats. That's seriously impressive to have no unexpected repairs until now. Have you had it since new?
Welcome to the forum!
Wayne that's up there, and where some have reported to be the MAX life of the timing setup. Did it hit the valves?
I have a 2007 Aveo that is currently at 148,000 miles.
Just passes 300,000km on our 2008 last week
186,000 MILES with new timing belt at 179,000 and running like a champ. I drive it to work(73 miles one way!), 4 days a week!
