Hi! I'm a newbie, with an Aveo.

Well, I don't really own an Aveo. It's a Canadian Pontiac Wave 2007. A year ago, I got this baby brand new at the dealer. It's a hatchback (pletty of room to carry stuff), 4 doors (good for my 3 kids), manual tranny (good for me). It's ride is very smooth. It was very cheap to buy.

One thing I really don't like about it: The gas mileage and the lack of power. (that makes 2 things, but they are related). Taken apart, those 2 factors are not a bad thing. I don't care having a small and weak engine, as long as it's not sucking gas too much. I don't care if the engine is drinking more than my alcoholic uncle, as long as you feel like you are strapped to a rocket when you press the pedal. But having so little power and still using that much gas is a non-sense.

(Sorry for the unit conversion in the following paragraph, remember, I'm canadian)
Before that, I drove a Dodge Neon 16V that I modded with bolt-ons parts. I was getting an average of 7L/100km. Now, the Aveo gets an average of around 7.5L/100km, but with an engine that I feel like half the power I had in the Neon. And the Aveo is 9 years newer.

Ok, that's enough Aveo bashing for now. I may lurk the board for a while and decide if you guys are worth hanging with.

one of the big things different about the neon and aveo, is the weight added to meet new laws. side impact, more airbags, more emissions, front ends that need to hit people to break there hips instead of their knees, etc..

that said, i think you need to push the RPMs in the aveo more. Its actually a pretty fun car to drive, and pretty quick if you let it rev out. it will hurt your fuel economy a little more but makes a big difference i how powerful the car "feels"

there are basic bolt ons for the aveo available too. figure a CAI, header, some other exhaust work and a light weight pulley, (two items from xiogary in the list) will potentially add 10-15 hp? from the basis of what they do to other cars.

lowering spring also make the car mor stable to keep your speed up while driving.

I love my neon so much, I bought another one. But for the price, I couldnt turn down a new aveo.

At least you can get a sweet ground kit for your wave. We have absolutely no aftermarket here in the US for decent conservative ground kits.

Fuel mileage sucks and yes, there is a lack of power.
