Help with identifying p/n for timing belt tensioner pulley and idler pulley

Guys...I can't seem to find a p/n for the timing belt tensioner. All internet searches shows just a pulley. AC Delco calls out a T42170 tensioner, but when I call source, they tell me it's just the pulley. GM calls out a 96350526, but I believe that's the idler pulley. Are both pulleys the same ? Is the tension made at the water pump ? Or is there a tension arm ? Do I need to change the tension arm as well or just the pulleys along with the water pump ? Plan on doing it all while it's opened up....

      Thanks in advance....

Tension is from the water pump. There is one pulley and one tensioner. Tensioner is T43039.

Basically, the tensioner is an indicator of how to properly setup the water pump. There is a procedure on this board somewhere.

buy the "kit" from rock auto or ebay. it will have both, and the water pump.

Ok...Is what you are calling a tensioner a pulley ? Are there 2 pulleys in the system ?

I hear you petrified.rabbit, but the dealer told me he will only supply the timing belt, so when their shop has the Aveo opened up I want them to replace the water pump, tensioner and idler pulley as well. At my cost on the parts of course..

so you buy the kit, toss the belt aside, and give then the rest of the parts? dealership around here will usually put on aftermarket parts by request. but the warranty then falls on the part manufacturer.

the dealer parts counter did not help you?

its your call but they have too loosen off waterpump to adjust tension and that will affect the waterpump seal,so at least that should be replaced.just a note of caution most people who dont change the pump have a pump failure before the next change interval of another timing belt(60,000miles)

Replace the water pump Replace the water pump I can't stress it enough replace it. Unless of course you want to wind up like me rebuilding an engine in a car thats probably not worth it but you have to cuz otherwize you get scrap price for the car!!! Did I mention replace it. While you've got it in replace everything and then pray...
