Does anyone change their PCV Valve?

I'm asking because none of the auto parts shops in my area stock a PCV for my 2005, and some don't even think it exists. The counter guys at AZ and CAP told me I didn't have one :confused:. NAPA wanted another $3 to have one shipped from another vendor, Advanced isn't listing anything, and my nearest Chevy dealer needed to get one from another dealer 50 miles away (who only had 2). Rockauto seems to be the only outfit that appears prepared to ship one out today. I think of a PCV as a common low-cost maintenance item, and normally replace them proactively somewhere around 100K. The Aveo owner manual doesn't specifically list it as a maintenance item, and maybe that's why they're not getting replaced very much. Does anyone know of any other reason why these aren't more commonly available?

I looked back through the pictures of my 2005 engine and I don't think there is one on the engine. If so, it would be on the valve cover with a vacuum line going to the throttle body or intake manifold.

rockauto shows the Aveo has 1 but i don't see it on my car??

Although I haven't actually removed it yet, on my 2005 it's located on the left back side of the valve cover. I'm finally getting around to changing the famous leaking valve cover gasket, and planned on doing the PCV valve while I was messing around there anyway. Based on the feedback and availability, it appears that PCVs aren't getting replaced on the Aveo. That surprises me a bit, because it's such a low cost item and so easy to do. But, it must mean these PCVs aren't plugging up or failing (which is a good thing).

I've never paid to have a PCV valve replaced. Yeah, its only a couple dollar item, but I have a can of carb cleaner on the shelf that makes any non-damaged PCV valve good as new.

Also, if you're thinking that little metal bit is the PCV valve, its not. That is simply an odd looking 4-way connector.

Unscrewed and examined the PCV valve during the replacement of my leaking valve cover gasket this afternoon. The PCV value looked to be in great shape, and rattled just like a snake, so back in it went. Based on the condition of this valve, and the fact that there are practically none for sale at the auto stores, it appears that PCVs in Aveos don't gum up or wear out like lots of others do. I'll check it again in another 100K or so ;)

I replaced my pcv at 125,000. When I examined the old one, no rattle, just solid. It was gummed up.

I took mine out soaked it in parts cleaner over night and it was good to go.
