Did I make a mistake?
Hello,
First time poster here.
My 02 saturn sl1 was on its last legs and I looked for an used car to replaced it.
I got a good deal on a 09 Pontiac G3 Wave Hatchback with 64000Kms.
Before buying the vehicle I did a bit of research looking for any major problems with the veh, but for some reason I missed the part that said that PONTIAC is no more and that this particular model was only sold for one year (in the US, not sure about Canada).
I did read that the car is basically the same as an Aveo and because I heard good stuff about the car made me more confident about buying the Pontiac.
Now I am concerned about down the road having to get parts for this car. I usually keep the car for 5 to 6 years before replacing it.
Will aftermarket parts be a problem for this veh, or because of the AVEO it will not be an issue and I should enjoy the veh.
I usually avoid OEM/DEALER parts because they are alot more expensive.
Thanks.

you will be perfectly fine mechanically. The only issue i can foresee honestly, is if you wreck it, or some sort of thing.
even then the parts are "interchangeable" with other market cars, like your major differences in the bumper, and gauges. Thats it really. And your bumper is the same as a holden barina. So it should be available oem for some time.

Thanks for the reply. I feel better but still not happy that I got a car that is discontinued...

even the aveo is "discontinued" at this point.

Oh really? I was not aware of that. At least the brand Chev is still alive, cant say the same for Pontiac.
As long there will be aftermarket parts available all is good.

Both the Chevrolet and Pontiac are just a rebadged Daewoo Kalos/Gentra. It really doesn't matter, you'll be able to get parts for the foreseeable future.

You are 100% going to be OK, mechanically the parts are the same, just the logo is really all that is different (In Canada at least). I am going this weekend to get new doors at the junkyard for my 2005 Aveo, from a 2007 Pontiac Wave.
Think Chevy Cavalier/Pontiac Sunfire. Mechanically the same car, discontinued since 2003 and parts are still real easy to get.
Also if you want dealer service, any GM dealer should be able to help you with a Pontiac.

Enjoy the car. It's fun to drive and cheap to own. And no you did not make any mistakes in buying. This group on this forum is active in supporting the car. Go get you a ODBII reader that goes to your smart phone: http://www.amazon.com/Newest-Bluetoo.../dp/B009F4JHHO
