Chevy Aveo timing belt, water pump, component kits

Im looking at these kits on ebay and they range from 40 dollars up. Do you think they are a safe buy? Some of the brands are daewoo and Gates. heres a link to one of the kits. I just dont know what to buy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gates-HTD-T...EAAOSwTuJYtgdc

I would probably go with the ‘Gates’ kit , but it is also a familiar brand to me.
Have been using Gates pulleys and belts for over 20 years servicing industrial equipment, as well they make their own water pumps (no rebuilt assemblies).

Just my opinion, others might choose something else.

It's pricey at $125 without the water pump, but I've pulled one out with 80K miles on it, and it looked brand new.

I used a kit like that that included the water pump from eBay and it works well. My aveo only had 50K on the engine and the seals were good so I didn't change the seals.

While you are buying parts for your Aveo buy the 41 mm water pump-timing belt tension wrench and a valve cover gasket.

I aligned my sprocket timing marks with the top of the head (valve cover removed) and placed a bicycle spoke on the top of the head, sticking out a little past the outer edge of the cam sprockets, and put the cam sprocket marks next to the the spoke. A straight edge or ruler will work too.

If you remove or loosen the camshaft position sensor push it towards the front of the car when re-tightening it. I got a P0340 code and fixed it by moving the cam sensor towards the front of the car. See https://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f82/2008-p0340-22978/
