Very nice appreciate the work you guys put into this
There is some really good information in there if you are willing to dig through it a bit. I noticed that in 07 they went from a 18mm front swaybar to a 17mm swaybar. I'm not sure if the swaybar will fit considering they also widened the car about 2" in 07, but its something to look into. It may not seem like much, but the bending strength of a 18mm vs 17mm bar is 20% higher. Of course, it all depends on how the bar is designed. So, someone should get a some pictures of their bars. They also went to a higher rate spring in 07. So, those looking to stiffen things up a bit with their 04-06 but don't want to drop should look at an 07-08 spring set. Those are just a couple things I found, I'm sure theres more.
Interesting point in reviewing these specs: One reason I bought a 2009 Aveo (rather than a Yaris or a Fit) is that the Aveo has a stainless steel exhaust. Apparently the years made before 2009 didn't, and the other makes still don't have it either. Chevy never made a selling point of this in their marketing #-o . I was surprised and delighted to find out it has it. To me, stainless is a big advantage in longevity. The stainless steel exhaust on my 21 year old Galant is all original, with the exception of the manifold exhaust pipe and one resonator that I had to cut out.
Hmm... that's interesting, in 2006 (my year), stock manual transmission 5-door aveo's curb weight is 2436 lbs. 2008 Aveo5's stock manual curb weight is 2348 lbs - that's 88 lbs shaved off the weight. But then 2010 Aveo5 is coming in at 2546 lbs. That's 110 lbs heavier than 2006, and 198 lbs heavier than an 08 hatch! Why such a weight difference? All the weights are for 5-door manual models.
Hmm I noticed on my model (2005 LS) it states "Transmission - 4-speed automatic with overdrive (not available when air conditioning ordered on LS model)"?????!!!? :? My Model came with an automatic transmission, with A/C, No Foglights, and No ABS..... yet when I check my fuse box there are fuses for all of these things put in. I dont have the power package (Power Windows/Locks). So I am not exactly sure how the person got this model when they did. (I purchased this model from a repo auction) :?
its the same for all the cars, they add the extra spots in for all instead of making 15 different fuse boxes for each option
some options are even added and installed that the dealer itself and not the factory
Good work, guys---thanks!
Any further details on the spring rate increase for '08... any measurements or part numbers? Compatible with '04-'06?
they would be compatible, the mounting points stayed the same.
If the increase carries over to 09. I have my 09 stock springs here and a factory air box if you haven't found one. I don't think ill ever go back to stock.
the links don't work anymore...
Thanks. We are aware of this. Its on the list to get fixed.
Specs pages are back! The links in post 1 work again.
Need to add a page for 2011 now...
Also, we'll add specs pages for Europe and other regions/countries that are easy to find.
i noticed in the '07 description that slightly stiffer struts/shocks were equipped... would it be possible to use a full "quick strut" off of a newer model on my 04 hatch? i'd love to stiffen it up, but i dont want to drop it at all...
all the suspensions are interchangeable.. as for just stiffer shocks, kyb gr2. all 4 corners for $200.
thats the price paid here by a few users. i forget where exactly..
off ebay.. right now individually it is @ 80 and 30.. so $240 shipped. but there arent many listed at this time.
what year did they remove the side marker lights on the Aveos? I think it adds alot to the looks of the car.
Any success buying the complete cruise control kit?

if you have dbw, and buy the clock spring, cruise switch, and steering bracket (to hold the switch). you get the "complete" cruise control.
OK, I have the part number for the switch, do you have the others?
i do not. i believe they have been posted though, somewhere.
I wonder why this thread attracts so much spam. Like moths to a flame, they come here to get deleted / banned.
its "general discussion"
same thing happens on mine. I guess its in the bots programming?
Makes sense. Also, this thread is sticky, so it's always the top of the list in "general"... so it's the default target.
Also, could have something to do with "specs". I always search for specs of a car I'm interested in...
Yup. Maybe we should interrogate the next spammer. :D
this is bump!
Huge favor. Anyone happen to know the part number for the throttle position sensor in a 2009 Chevy Aveo5 hatchback?

I have a 09 aveo5 ls 1.6 manual 5sp basic model 2nd owner I just equipped ac to my car. Had to use my friend’s computer to tell the ecm it’s equipped with ac. Had everything except compressor and lines and the switch board. Pulled parts from another Chevy. No abs no fog lights. Yes there are sections for fuses for abs and everything else but need the abs module and sensors etc and need to install fog lights and plug everything in under the fuse box

yes a very hard effort in this.:o
I have an 06 Aveo with a manual transmission and my clutch safety switch is out. I cannot find the part anywhere. There is a black switch that mounts in front of the clutch pedal that I can find anywhere, (and have replaced), but the white switch behind the clutch pedal, no one can get. None of the salvage yards in my area have had an aveo with manual transmission... Any thoughts?
