Car starts with remote start, but not key

Hi all. I have a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo that I'm having an odd issue with. My car will start with the remote starter, but not the key. When I turn the key no lights come on and no sounds are made...nothing. The car doesn't respond at all. (Not sure if it's worth noting that my key has a chip in it for the lock/unlock/trunk buttons). However, my car will power up fine when I use my remote starter. Once my car has powered up, I put the key in the ignition, turn it to on, and my car stays running fine.

I've asked around and no one I know has heard of this issue before. Anyone else have this problem before? TIA.

Looks like the issue may be related to either (A) a problem with the security chip in the ignition key (if your Aveo has one -- not all do), or (B) a problem in the factory ignition circuit which is bypassed by the car starter (sometimes the problem is caused by the remote start installation itself, eg. a wire connection coming loose).

Do you have a spare ignition key? I'd try that first.
