I just got news from Ariana. She's been in an accident with the Aveo. A woman in a Honda was going too fast and T-boned her in the Aveo. Ari was just released from the hospital. She says she's ok, if not a little shell-shocked. I'll update as soon as I'm able.

She says she's in some pain but that the hospital gave her "happy pills" for that. I'll post photos when she sends them to me after the assessment of the car's damage. She thinks it's totaled, but isn't sure. She praised how the car took most of the famage to keep her safe though on her facebook account. On a related note, her mechanic is FINALLY going to put a new engine in her W-body '98 Oldsmobile Intrigue next week.

I just texted Ari asking what her opinion was on Aveo safety, having experienced it first-hand. This was her response:
"The Aveo handled what could have been a fatal crash very well. The worst injury I have is a sore ankle and a sore hip/back."
Nice to know that my preaching to friends about driving safe cars isn't in vain.
Glad shes fine, another job well done by our AVEO friend!
In the next few days make sure u guys pay attention to any signs of pain or sickness, sometimes after a accident some of the injuries take time to appear and develop, and some can be very substantial. Someone collided with my car once, I was fine at first, a few days later my neck started to swell and hurt.
As posted on facebook. Teehee is her nickname for the Aveo. Ari's description of the accident:
"There were no lights. It was by the Shelton, Trap Falls Reservoir. I just got
out of class. She hit me on the driver's/my side. I was turning left, the sun
was in my eyes and I didn't see her till the last moment. If she had actually
used her brakes, we could have avoided it, but no. x.x No...that would have been
smart. Now I am sad, achey, etc. and Teehee and her Accord are in Heaven. The
cops said they weren't sure about her car, but we all could tell that Teehee was
gone. The left wheel is diagonal and when mom got there after the ambulance took
me to Griffin, she said there were fluids EVERYWHERE."
Maybe u guys should contact GM, they maybe interested in making a comercial featuring Aveo owners that were saved by their car in a accident, especialy with GM trying to push for small cars... U never know, I think it would be cool, kinda like the old Saab/Mercedes/VW commercials...
I'll run the idea by her. She was very flattering about the Aveo's safety.

EDIT. Ari just texted me that she does plan to contact GM to praise the Aveo's safety in her crash..

OMG! I'm so glad that Ari is ok! Its nice to hear that it held up in the crash, but i'm sorry Ari had to find out that way!
Well, for now, Ari's using her mother's Datsun (a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8L. The car is nicknamed Marshmellow for it's white color.), and predictably, the Datsun's been giving her problems.

Thats strange. I thought typically that Nissans were fairly dependable?
That's what I thought, but my Dad's Datsun (a 2006 Nissan Maxima 3.5SL) started giving him trouble as well. Though Dad's problem was down to the battery running out of charge (weird since the car is driven every day).Quote:

Actually, the Aveo was a second car to drive while she waited to settle an argument with her mechanic and until she could get him to swap in another 3800 series 2 V6. Her 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue should be getting it's new heart transplant next week. She loves that Oldsmobile like no other. She's been contemplating an L67 top swap after getting the engine replaced which would include an Eaton M90 gen 3 supercharger.Quote:

damn, WHO found her at fault? (cops, other insurance, was she interviewed?) and on what basis?
id look into seeing if she can find some surveilance video from any surrounding businesses that may show what happened. its just a thought.
