      2008 Wave

      Hello,

My daughter has a 2008 Wave and I'm looking for help on why the AC won't cool down.

We tested the compressor relay and also verified that the clutch engages when we press the AC button. The pressure when the car is running is around 30 PSI, when I turn off the car it goes to around 70 PSI.

I noticed the coolant is low - could that be an issue.

      Thanks

Based on your comments, in my opinion, the AC expansion valve is probably stuck open and needs replacing. Expansion valve failure seems to be relatively common on Aveos/Waves after about 10 years. A competent AC mechanic should be able to test and confirm if your expansion valve is bad. Engine coolant has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the info - not sure If this matters, but the low pressure is always around 30PSI with or without the AC button pressed.
