I recently purchased what I thought was a 2005 Aveo. The Vin Number comes back as a 2006 and the owners manual in the glove box is for a 2006 is there any where else on the vehicle I can look and see? and Does it really matter when ordering Parts?

not really almost all parts are inner changeable is it a sedan or hatch mines an 07 hatch.
Most 06 model Aveo would have been manufactured in 05. One sure way to tell is to look and see if there is a cable from the gas pedal to the throttle body. If there is, it's an 05 model, if it's all electrical, no manual cable, then it's an 06.
Check your vin. Go to any dear ask them ask them to decode it for you. I you check your door piller ( dr. side) there should be date on it yr.
does the VIN say KL1TDxxxx5Bxxxxxx or KL1TDxxxx6Bxxxxxx? because usually around July-August, they do the Model Year Changeover. (my Plymouth Breeze was built in December of 1997, but because of the Model Year Changeover, its considered a 1998.)
Hello Rick,
If you would like to send me the last 8-digits of your VIN, I could do a check to verify the year of your Aveo. Also, if you check the driver's side dash in your car, there should be a metal plate there that has your VIN number on it also.
Good luck!
