04 Aveo LS Wheel Bearing Tips N' Tricks
Hello Gang. This weekends project is a long overdue front driver side disassembly of the brakes and tie rods and all the good stuff to get at the wheel bearing to finally change it out. I'm hoping there is no surprises along the way as I know my way around cars but never have done a wheel bearing. I have the general idea of taking everything apart and have a local shop that will remove the old bearing and press in the new bearing for me yet I wanted to just ask any of you that may have some experience busting knuckles doing this that could offer any tips or tricks to make the job go a bit smoother. I started pre-spraying the bolts a week ago to penetrate the rust and so forth since this is a Cleveland car and our winters do a nice job at rusting everything and making things not come apart easy. I have a feeling the bearing is going to fall right out as well with how I pushed the limit driving it and the shaking was getting pretty bad at any speed above 40 when it heated up before I finally wised up and parked it to get time to fix it. Last weeks pre-inspection I didn't see any damage to my stabilizer or CV joints and all tie rods and ball joints look healthy so maybe any surprises may be minimal? Have a great day to all of you.
