There is also a timing mark on the Crankshaft pulley. Both marks should align, in conjunction with each other.

The Crankshaft pulley mark aligns with the mark on the rear timing belt cover (black plastic).

Yes....the mark on the crank matched up and I had marked the old belt with the new belt and all markings matched up. So if all markings matched I would assume that prior to replacing the timing belt that's where it sat anyway. I have to tighten the crank and then I'll start it and see how it goes. Used a pry bar to hold the cam sprockets in place and cut a spud wrench to tighten the water pump.

Looks good. The only other concept would be to count the teeth on the old and new belts.

I see that the new belt has 127 teeth, if the old has the same, you should be good to go.

I replaced the H2O pump on my 06 Aveo, I would advise you do the same.

Finally, the belt I purchased came with a sticker to mark the mileage and date of replacement.

Would be best to do that and adhere the sticker to the top of the timing belt cover.

127 tooth belt....15 across the sprockets 55 on intake side and 57 on exhaust. Jammed a pick and flathead in the slot under the engine exposing the flex plate and held that while torquing to spec. Filled with water until tomorrow then coolant and it starts doesn't overheat and runs. I was so concerned about it being out of time when trying to tighten that crankshaft pulley bolt in that I had to spin it four times (2x each) to reset it until I could get it where the crank pulley wouldn't turn. 199505 on it now and hope never have to do another water pump/timing belt on this again.

since you are not using to recommended tool (hey I do that once in a while timed my car once with the crank 90 degrees out of normal place marked where it was and put in the cam locking tool was doing a oil pump water pump housing gasket and oil pan reseal) and the belt is not tight and left sprocket will go counter clockwise some looks good after tensioner is released rotate engine at least 2 times and slow if there is locking points go backwards and recheck it helps to remove the plugs or just untighten them leave them in the holes so you do not have to fight compression there will still be some tightness from the cam opening valves and may jump forward in some places as valve spring pressure may come into play on valve closing and cam being on the closing ramp
