Buzzing vibration - Chev Aveo stick shift gear lever

Hi there,

I haven't been able to track down an existing thread with any details on this problem, so am starting one in the hope that other Aveo owners have experienced (and cured...) the same problem...

I bought my 2011 Aveo sedan last week - it has only 56k kilometers on the clock and is in excellent condition. The only slight blight on the copy book is a buzzing vibration sound coming from the gear lever. It is present in all gears, right from cold to operating temperature. the buzz increases and decreases with revs, and can be made to stop if you move the lever slightly if you put your hand on it. The vibration is NOT visible, but rather audible.

The Aveo reminds me very much of my 1999 Opel (Vauxhall) Astra (I know the motor is basically Opel) which had a similar problem, but after 10 years I can't remember how I fixed it. I know it was easy and didn't cost me anything...

Tighten the shifter by shortening the shift pattern.
