Exactly half way line? My 05 1.6 gets to just under the half way point in what I consider to be a bit fast. If you don't have any over-heating symptoms, It may not be an issue. Still, check the coolant reservoir to see if it is low. inspect radiator, and any coolant hoses for signs of leaking. Good luck.

Check to make sure your coolant is full.

I would check the thermostat the Aveo housing valve are not the best they stick and rubber seal inside can cause it to stick. Another thought would be the cooling fan they should be working to cool the engine check circuit breaker or fuse. I had problem during summer running the AC it ran red until i turned off. I had a lot problems with my car last year it spent more time in garage than on road after my wife let it overheat i ended replacing head gasket, and both system computers before i got rid of the check light. I hope i do not get any more problem it been good now for few month with the computer boards and sensor replacements.

I would also check the thermostat. It could be refusing to open and stopping fluid from flowing to the rad. When the engine is hot, try checking to see if the rad stays cold (don't burn yourself!).

I guess it's not a huge problem if the engine is heating up quickly but never overheating. If it's not the cooling system, then I'd wonder if the engine is running under a heavier load than it should be, maybe from friction somewhere. Has your gas mileage gotten a lot worse? Does it sound like the engine is working harder than it used to?
