      2005 aveo firmware upgrade

So I am supposed to go to the dealership tomorrow to have the DRL recall fixed, but they also said there is a firmware update for the ecm, for the onboard diagnostics. Quite honestly I don't want my computer messed with but I thought I would see what u guys think, never had one done before, got 214,000 miles on it and no CEL, so it kind of makes me wonder what may happen with the upgrade. Should it be done if there is no reason for it to be done.

As a firmware engineer, I always say go for the upgrade. We usually put in fixes that could prevent issues further down the road or fix known bugs. Just make sure if they touch your FW that they give a 30 day warranty on your ECU. I know they probably will not but why not.

Just remember my sig, when doing the upgrade.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

There's a website from GM that you can plug your VIN into, and check what calibration your supposed to have; I'd post a link, but I'm not near a computer atm.

EDIT: here's the Site in question: https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

just Plug in you VIN Number, and click Get CAL ID. the next page has a drop Down Menu showing the various control modules; Click on ECM, and click Next on the bottom of the page. it will ask you if you have an automatic or a Manual Transmission, as well as if you have an Immobilizer or not. (on mine, there are 8 Calibration IDs for various parts of the ECM)
