2004 timing belt misaligned?

Hello all! First off, this forum has helped me immensly so thank you for all the helpful info. So, i just did the head gasket on my 2004 ls and im having trouble with the timing belt, im reusing the old one for a couple weeks until i get paid, my cams line up fine but the crankshaft seems a little off after i tension it, i followed the aveo manual off of here, and i made my own marks that lined up fine. So is the crankshaft to far off? Or am i good to go?

If you turn your crankshaft a little 1/16" counter clockwise, I think things will line up fine.

Marking the belt and sprockets like you did is the best way to ensure you got the timing belt back on correctly. No one I know ever uses a timing belt that has close to 50,000 miles on it.

My opinion from the pictures is, make the timing belt tension adjustments (2 different times-one extra tight and a final tightness where the 2 pointers line up) rotate the crankshaft 2 to 4 revolutions clock wise with the spark plugs out. This will sort of seat the timing belt idler pulleys and not bend your valves if something is not aligned correctly.

Bryman1870 if the head was planed-milled-straightened then the timing marks on the lower end will be a little off. I think the crankshaft mark on the belt will be a little past the factory notch in the cover when rotating the crankshaft in the normal (clock wise) direction.

Some head gaskets include a shim if more metal than x amount is removed from the head to make it flat again.
