I don't know about that...I see a lot of used Aveos listed at dealers for over 12k. I think someone posted here not to long ago about paying 13k for a used 2011. Don't underestimate the ability of dealers to sell monthly payments to young buyers.

Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.

I was talkling about Sonics not Aveos. Sonics in my area start at 15.5K. Thats a lot for a car that replaces the Aveo.

12K used? Well there is a fool born every minute.

The only way the Aveo could be sold (not compete) was with rebates. After rebates the Aveo was a sub 10K car. 12K fully loaded at best! So you could buy a new car with warranty fo 10K or less.

At 15.5-18K the sonic (renamed Aveo) will never compete in that segment, there are far too many other cars in that range with better mileage and better resale value and better features.

NYChevoo is probably the most dedicated Aveo owner ever, and he bought a cruze after a test drive.

So I doubt many on here will "upgrade" to a sonic because it is not an upgrade, it isn't even a lateral move.

There is a growing market for "nice" small cars. Historically (in the US at least) small has meant cheap. Now, people are coming around to the idea that small doesn't have to mean cheap. People want a nice car, but also want good mileage. That is where the Sonic comes into play.

If I were ever to buy another car in the segment, which I would never do, I would get the Sonic in a heart beat.

I know you were talking about the new Aveo, excuse me, Sonic. My point was, if the 2nd generation Aveo can sell for 12k used, the 3rd generation Aveo, err...Sonic is enough of an improvement to sell for 16k new.

      FWIW - I paid 8996 + 172 dealer fees + state fees when I bought my 2010 Aveo new...I won't be spending 16k on a Sonic anytime soon.

The Sonic is most definitely an upgrade IMO...just not a "double the price" upgrade.

Just to update you all eventhough as I quote member "Aveojunk" and as he say I maybe the most dedicated Aveo owner but I bought a 2012 Cruze after the testdrive I still miss my Aveo everyday and second guess the purchase of the new car. Now my wife knowing how I felt about my 04 Aveo and even bearing in mind how much she likes my new Cruze still purchased the 2012 Sonic. She has all the gizmos and gadgets that the Sonic has even the bluetooth connectivity features. Her cas has however has the 1.8L motor in it. I'm curious to see if it will hold up like my old first generation 1.6L. The cost of her Sonic 1LT with Connectivity and the 1.8L was $18500.00 as opposed to the $19800.00 of my Cruze Eco package with Connectivity. The dealership feels that the Cruzes are priced way to close to the Sonics. They sell 3 to 4 Cruzes a day versus the 1 or 2 Sonics that roll out the door. I asked my wife why she went for the Sonic versus the Cruze and she said that she loves her little hatchback. The way it drives and handles and how easy it is to park as well. She jsut wanted all that in an updated package and the Victory Red is what got her.
