Third Evap Solenoid
Last week the car had to go back to the dealer for yet another evap solenoid. It was almost exactly one year to the day that the first one failed. The first one died at around 12,000 miles. The second one failed at 32,000 miles. They are lasting longer, but this is kind of silly to have to replace this part on a regular basis. The car is still under warranty, so it was fixed for free, but they did have me wait a week while they ordered the part.
Is anybody else going through these solenoids like I am?

are they just replacing it based on the code? how do you know it went bad aside from the code?

They are doing some kind of diagnostic on the car along with the SES light trouble code.

it seems more likely a vacuum leak in the evap system to me than 3 bad evap solenoids. unless your driving cycle does not open that system except every time the light comes on.
